Review of the adventure of the Quebec jewel “Ancestral Land” in festivals

It is with great pride that I announce to you that our fantastic work has a final result totaling 163 distinctions in no less than 36 countries. Among these distinctions, I count 35 official selections, 73 prizes won, 26 nominations, 23 honorable mentions, 4 finalist mentions, 1 semi-finalist mention and 1 quarter-final mention.

It should be noted that the number of official selections were not all converted into prizes won, so this means that the number of total distinctions could have been even higher.

For nominations, according to the image below, they have been converted into prizes won, which explains why there are fewer on the counter.

The number of prizes won according to the image below is explained by the fact that we have won several prizes in the same festival, which the FilmFreeway website does not take into account. This also applies to honorable mentions.

For comparison, we can be quite grateful for our silent work which received 162 distinctions when we compare to the Guinness record, which is 458 awards (or distinctions) for a short documentary film “Belle-Île en Acadie” by the Acadian director Phil Comeau.

Still for comparison, for a work of fiction, this time, the record is held by the English film “Cognition” with 383 awards, and the Spanish film “Cuerdas” with 384 in animated short film.
